A project in development dealing with the virtual reconstruction of the Finnish pavilion of the 1900 Paris world expo.

ImaNote
(Image and Map Annotation Notebook) is a web-based multi-user tool that allows you and your friends to display a high-resolution image or a collection of images online and add annotations and links into them. This work was done in collaboration with Learning Environments group.

Past research projects


digglam
(2013–2014)
This Project helped digitize the collections of small GLAMs using an Open Source autonomous scanning Robot for small galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAMs) in Finland.

Re-discovering Vrouw Maria
(2011–2013) The project deals with the creation of a virtual reality simulation of a 18th Century ship that sank in Finnish waters bearing a cargo of treasures for the Empress Catherine the Great, of Russia.

RealUbi
(2009–2012)
A part of the multidisciplinary UBI (‘UrBan Interactions’) research program of University of Oulu, that brings together researchers from engineering, computer science, architecture, business, art, economics, design and cultural anthropology.

Mobile Support for eMaintenance – eMari
(2007-2009)
The project develops and demonstrates methods that utilize mobile technology, for supporting (field) service activities during the product lifecycle and researches how cultural and language differences should be taken into account in the maintenance business.

(2006-2009)
A Tekes-funded project concentrating on the development of new 3D interaction metaphors and technology.

The House of Marcus Lucretius
(2007-2008)
An interactive 3D model of an ancient house in Pompeii, built in cooperation with EVTEK.

Map of Mexico 1550
(2000-2005)
A project about the virtual reconstruction and creation of a digital facsimile of one of the most important maps in existence of the ancient city of Mexico-Tenochtitlan.

CIPHER
(2002-2004)
The project was set up in April 2002 as a 30-month project partly funded by the European Union IST Fifth Framework programme, “Heritage for All” initiative.
