Renewable Futures network
RENEWABLE FUTURES network project is a 24 month project begun in 2015. The project focuses on building a new European Creative Alliance and Think Tank. The project, that is coordinated by RIXC New Media Center in Latvia, is partly funded by the Creative Europe Programme that seeks to support and improve audio visual culture in Europe.
In response to recent quests for a more sustainable future, The Renewable Futures (RF) project aims to invent new avenues for developments of tomorrow – in culture and creative sector on the European level. We believe that the key of success for achieving cultural sustainability lies into our ability to become more open and susceptible to new ideas, approaches and collaborations. The RF project will shape new contact zones between traditionally separated domains bringing together art and science, culture and digital technologies, sustainable businesses and social engagement of the 21st century.
Members in the network comprise Art in Society (Oslo, Norway); Baltan (Eindhoven, The Netherlands); Ars Longa (Paris, France); Hangar (Barcelona, Spain); Aalto University/Media Lab and Aalto Media Factory (Espoo, Finland); MPLAB/Liepaja University (Liepaja, Latvia); and RIXC (Riga, Latvia).
The events that will take place at Aalto University include:
- 3D Open-source Digital Heritage and Sustainable Technologies Workshop.
To be held 1-3 December 2016, at Aalto Media factory (AMF). During the activity we intend to showcase and discuss successful and unsuccessful examples of Open Source projects.
